Hugo Fox, principal bassoonist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for 27 years, originally designed this bassoon and produced the unique resonance characteristic in a redesign back in 1970. It has stood the test of time, being one of the most popular instruments of its type for the price. Being of polypropylene it is capable of being bore tuned, a characteristic not often found in the less expensive instruments.
