Valve oil

No trumpet will operate for long without the correct valve lubricant.
A carefully formulated lubricant to provide a quality of oil commensurate with the valve gear on the trumpet which I have heard said to be “the fastest in the world”Obviously one can argue on such a contentious point, however - where there's smoke there's often fire. The choice of many professionals.

Slide lubricant.

The name is perhaps misleading in that the trombone slide really runs on millions of little ball bearings of water from your squirt bottle. The slide lubricant merely provides the water repellent barrier on which the water runs and “beads up”

Rotary valve lubricant

Special valves require special treatment. Not the cheapest oil in town, however it doesn't need to be when you are dealing with the precision rotary valves finished and honed to perfection coming from the Getzen factory. If you have a Getzen or Edwards rotary valve you really should be using Edwards Premium Rotary valve oil.

No other will do if you are dealing with the Thayer valve. Try it and you will never go back to the others.

Trombone / Trumpet care kit

All Getzen owners must have a care kit from Getzen which has all the correct brush gear and lubricants to provide uninterrupted performance on your Getzen instrument. The correct cleaning and maintenance techniques are made easy when you have a suitable care kit for your Getzen Brass.

Trumpet and Trombone Stands

Now you have the instrument, how and where do you put it down when you aren't playing it?

The correct instrument stand for your brass instrument is essential. It must be a well made and suitable stand for your Getzen instrument and provide stable and adequate support for the horn even in the most energetic of situations.

Some stands have the ability to be stored in the bell of the instrument. This of course is an advantage when storage space in the case may be at a premium. For advise on the correct stand for your situation, don't hesitate to contact us.

Mouthpieces

Getzen have a wide range of mouthpieces for all the range of instruments. Choosing a mouthpiece is a little like fitting a pair of shoes. Each person has a different idea of what is ‘right’ and what is not.

Mouthpiece range available
Trumpet 1C, 3C, 5C, 7C
Cornet 4B, 5B, 7C
Fluegelhorn 3c
Trombone 61/2AL, 61/2AL-L, 12C
Bass Trombone 11/2G

If you should choose to change mouthpieces, first determinine what sound you require to produce and then which range of the horn you wish to work on with your new choice, then contact us and talk it through.

Propack case

Propack Case

Many players having just purchased a beautiful instrument immediately rush out and look for some case of gig bag to carry the horn other than the one supplied by the manufacturer.

Now that is not necessary, because Getzen have listened to the customers and provided the carry pack required to withstand the rigors of student misuse and accidental handling.

Configured with over the shoulder as well as hand held facility. allowing the student and professional alike to have a hands free approach to taking the horn to the gig.

Standard on the basic trumpets, cornets, and trombones. They are also available for the other instruments and indeed for other brands of instrument not so well endowed with user friendly carrying accouterments.

Getzen Amado Water Key

Getzen was one of the first companies to embrace the genuine Amado Water Key. It is indeed logical in a device which is totally manufactured from metal, that the spit valve be in a material just as substantial.

This delightfuly piece of engineering allows the player, with two fingers, to remove ALL the water from the tubing of the horn being played, in one movement.

It is constructed from the finest non coroding stainless steel and remains in the new condition for the life of the instrument. It is necessary to apply a drop of oil (valve) as you do the valve lubrication. This is the normal process for any moving machine part.

This fine engineering supplement to the Getzen product provides a welcome contrast to the manufacturers still using the old fashioned piece of cork to plug up the 'spit hole'.

I have heard negative comments on this part, however once the person realises that he/she may not insert pieces of the evening meal etc. into the bore of the instrument, all's well. This precision manufactured machine part, must be kept in lubricated state. The Amado Water Key provides a life time of total satisfaction without ever needing repair, as would a cork stopper.
