May Jazz Festival - Melbourne

Graham Lyall with his Yanagisawa solid silver 9937 Saxophone

Receiving a top billing in the May Jazz Festival in Melbourne at Hamer Hall, the Yanagisawa A9937 alto sax, produced the most astonishing, astounding, remarkable, wonderful, incredible, startling, Marvelleous, miraculous, surprising, mind-blowing, mind-boggling, staggering adrenaline-invoking sounds one has ever heard from any saxophone.

Whilst on the subject of superlatives - did I mention that Graeme Lyall was the creator of this magic. Clearly a world leader on saxophones.

Yanagisawa 9937 Saxophone

Wow! Have you ever seen anything like this in your life before. Even though there is no sound or wave file attached to this picture you can just about hear it play. Not only is the Yanagisawa 9937 Saxophone the most beautiful saxophone you have ever seen, but it plays even better than it looks.

Many have tried to copy the brilliance of the Yanagisawa saxophones but no one has even come close in my opinion. The sound simply jumps out of this instrument which plays as brilliantly as it looks and that's an understatement.

The Yanagisawa 9937 Saxophone, plays as it looks, just brilliant.

New Clarinets . . .

Eltham Woodwind and Brass have always tried to keep up with the times and are proud to announce the introduction of a new line of instruments into their range called the “Ecole”.

Presently the only instruments which have passed the meticulous criteria required to be included in this range are two clarinets namely the Ecole and the Ecole Professional.

The Ecole Pro has surpassed our wildest expectations in terms of customer acceptance both wholesale and retail. We are working on other similar products at this time.

In the quest for better and improved instruments The Sound oboe has been upgraded. The latest shipment arriving about now is of this new model and we are pleased to offer such a fine instrument for a remarkably small price.

11/01. Very recently the some of the staff of Eltham Woodwind and Brass visited factories associated with the manufacture of The Sound instruments in Europe. Also, a most pleasant visit to the MARCA reed factory at which we were guided from cane fields, drying sheds, through the computer controlled manufacturing processes, which provide the world with one of the most reliable reeds available, for the woodwinds.

Pictured below Franco Gucinni proudly showing the cut cane in storage where it remains for years prior to manufacture into the fine MARCA reeds.

Also at another factory, the critical left hand F4 keys being fitted to precice tolerances, so necessary in producing the outstanding wooden, third octave, The Sound Oboe.

... And all that jazz

The outlaws didn't rob from the rich, but they did give to the poor jazz starved Scotch Collegians in the '47/'48 era. Don Hobbs and David Pincus played flutes whilst David Corbet a flute player added authenticity to the jazz feel with a trumpet he borrowed from the school.
