Yanagisawa Adjustable Front F Key

Most saxophones have an alternate method of playing the high F note, being the use of the left hand index finger and rolling onto the high F key at the top of the left hand stack. On most saxophones this is actioned by a little button inlaid with a piece of plastic and requiring the player to lift the index finger to produce the movement of the mechanism.

Yanagisawa use a spatula for this key. This allows the player to use a rolling motion of the index finger as you would on a clarinet. This is the correct manipulation of the key and the movement which is conducive to the fast action during performance of this alternate fingering for the high F.

The key in this case is a beautifully formed spatula (which it should be), which feels great under the fingers. Compare!

This mechanism is fully adjustable to allow for customisation of this tuning to suit the player on his very personal Yanagisawa Saxophone.
