Yanagisawa Surface Finishes

Bronze

The Bronze saxophones as the name suggests are not just a beautiful hue, but in fact have the entire saxophone made of bronze which is a mixture of copper and zinc together with other trace elements. Bronze is chosen by Yanagisawa for its resonant characteristics and is the most popular metal for top-quality bells and cymballs, and more recently, saxophones.

The rich colour of the body material when highly polished and lacquered with a two part epoxy resin provides a beautiful looking instrument which not only looks good but provides a rich unique resonant sound, allowed by the factory processes which enhance these qualities.

Gold Lacquer

The word gold lacquer is probably misleading as there is no gold colour in the lacquer and in fact the surface colour is derived from the most meticulous cleaning and polishing of the surface of the saxophone and its parts to a bright mirror like finish of the brass, then lacquered with a two part, heat cured, epoxy lacquer.

The result is a beautiful resiliant scuff resistant surface.

However, it is important to note that the surface finish is only as good as you (the new owner) keeps it.

As the surface is only lacquer covering the highly polished brass, a small scratch in the lacquer will allow the air to penetrate to the exposed brass..

This will allow the nacent brass to tarnish, over a period of time and become a dirty brown colour, contrasting with the beautiful brass lacquered look. This change is permanent and cannot be reversed.

Pink Gold

Using the suffix PG provides the Yanagisawa player with the most beautiful saxophone in the world.

The subtle hue of the pink gold saxophone provides the player with a saxophone which will draw only admiring attention to the instrument, by all who view it.

It is a very professional finish which unlike other instruments which have tried to deviate from the normal gold lacquer, or silver, this instrument is just “class” in every meaning of the word.

Silver

The silver saxophone is not plated it is a real silver saxophone made from a most expensive silver alloy after years of experience and scientific testing, to provide the ultimate in sound for this optical delight.

Not only is the sound unique but the visual pleasure derived from this saxophone is something which can only be described a awe inspiring. The solid silver saxophone is a highly polished silver and lacquered to provide the player with a very long lasting thing of beauty.
